Becoming a Member
We value all of the volunteers and members who contribute to making Rygiel Supports for Community Living a better organization.
Membership has its privileges:
Membership in a community-based agency exists for the following reasons:
- Community members strongly support the agency and its mission and are able to advocate on behalf of the individuals served by the agency
- Community members are able to contribute to the work of the organization through volunteer opportunities
- Community members receive feedback from the Board of Directors regarding the outcomes of the work of the organization. This supports the Board’s responsibility to be accountable to the membership and community.
Membership1 affords you the following benefits:
- Nomination to the Board of Directors (if a voting Member)
- Attendance at annual general meetings
- Participation at Special Meeting of the Members and at the Annual General Meeting2
- Discount at any Rygiel-sponsored training
- Receipt of Rygiel’s Annual Report that outlines and highlights the work of the agency over the past year
*Once a year, a non-profit organization is required to publicly report its program activities and financial results for the fiscal year. This yearly meeting also provides an opportunity whereby Members are able to gather and ask the Board of Directors questions pertaining to corporate health and strategy, thus allowing Members to stay informed and involved with Agency decisions and workings.
Criteria for Membership
- Members commit to support the values, vision, goals, models of service and related activities of Rygiel Supports for Community Living.
- Members must be eighteen (18) years of age or over.Voting members must have the mental capacity to understand the voting process as well as the issues that are subject to a vote within the Agency.
- Members agree to pay the membership fees as set by the Board of Directors from time to time.
- There must not be any evidence of conflict of interest, i.e. where holding membership may result in personal gain.
- General members cannot have had the status of an ’employee’ of Rygiel Supports for Community Living within the past twelve (12) months.

- Members receive feedback from the Board of Directors regarding the outcomes of the work of the organization. This supports the Board’s responsibility to be accountable to the membership and community.
